Conventional hard-surface seawall solutions just hold back water.
Years of researching and studying shorelines confirmed for me that each traditional seawall offers its own advantages, however with significant limitations. Concrete, sheet pile, and other hard-surface seawalls oppose 1-hundred percent of the wave force. This creates damage to adjacent properties and undercuts the substrate and can cause the surrounding structures to shake on impact. Revetment (armor stone) becomes unstable over time, shifts with seasonal changes, and upon installation begins to weaken. Gabion cages made with riprap and medium-sized stone suffer a similar fate with the settling and shifting of stone. This leaves a large void, exposing the concrete underside to the elements which leads to destruction. We must have innovative technology to address the global issue of shoreline erosion.

Seeing Advantage in Nature
As I contemplated the shortcomings of existing seawalls I wondered: Can I create a shoreline system that works with the force of nature to holistically protect and preserve coastal property?

Employing my strategic and creative expertise, I invented a seawall system that embraces the beauty and power of nature and protects the shoreline in calm and rough water environments. A team of experts, which included a physicist, engineer, architect, and a metal fabricator, collaborated with me on executing a technical analysis of my new seawall design. Then, we constructed a true-scale prototype using a steel plate and existing U-shaped sheet pile. We installed it in Lake Ontario, a North American Great Lake, and the results surpassed all expectations.

The patented Smart Breakwall Diversion System (SBDS) 11072900 and patent pending Interlocking Modular Smart Seawall Diversion and Recreation System and Method of Installation (IMSSDRS) 17/864,243 redirects the force of nature away from the shoreline and back to its natural environment. It combines the best of existing technologies with new mechanisms creating a superior shoreline protection system for high and rough water conditions.

Redefining Shoreline Protection
Smart Seawall Technologies, Inc. developed an adaptable shoreline solution that goes beyond shoreline protection. The Smart Seawall provides an aesthetically-pleasing, elegant shoreline protection system that enriches our communities and enhances aquatic habitats.

Smart Seawall Technologies, Inc. reimagined and produced a distinctive shoreline solution system where humanity and aquatic life co-exist.
